Depths of Discovery

So often we think we need to discover something, or look for something - out there.

But what we're really looking to discover is --- in here --- in our hearts.

There's no need to travel the world over to discover ourselves. All we need do is look inside our hearts and find the all the answers we seek!!!

Ashes, Ashes ... We All Fall Down

It's been a very challenging time for many people here in So. California, especially in my community here in the foothills of the Angeles National Forest.

During this stressful period of daily fire alerts, smokey skies and unhealthly air, I myself needed some 'Comfort Food for Thought'. I reached out to others to ask for support and received back a security blanket of prayers and love.

This has been a reminder to always, always, live my life in Faith and Gratitude. With all that was swirling around me; fires, unemployment, financial challenges, and broken down vehicles ... I realized how much I still have to be grateful for everyday ---- which is my LIFE!!!

And, so as I continue to watch the ashes fall down , I continue to lift myself up, dust myself off and start all over again!

Poem of Gratitude

I give Gratitude for all your Shares ... For they are my Stories,
I give Gratitude for all your Tears ... For they are my Pain,
I give Gratitude for all your Smiles ... For they are my Joy,
I give Gratitude for all your Love ... For that is my Hearts Desire,
I give Gratitude for all of You ... For you are all my Soulmates

TGIF

Thank God it’s Friday! I used to feel that way every Friday after a long work week commuting back and forth to my job. I was so exhausted that all I could think about was catching up on my sleep!

Now that I work from home, go to school, take care of my family and home, TGIF has taken on a whole new meaning. How about ‘Thank God I’m Free’!

Free to decide how my day is going to be.
Free to choose my activities.
Free to create my own destiny.
Free to share a cup of coffee with friends.
Free to stroke my cat whenever he walks by.
Free to watch our ever-growing family of pet snails (yes – I did say ’snails’)
Free to take a walk in the park.
Free to pick up my kids from school.
Free to work in my pajamas.
Free to take a nap in the afternoon.
Free to Be Me.

So, make everyday ‘Friday’ no matter what you do, where you do it, or how you do it. Friday is a state of mind. And, my mind is free from any limiting beliefs about my life!

Failing Forward

I recognize that as a human being I will make mistakes in my life. I will fail in my life because failure is a part of life. It is the fear of failure that stops most of us from moving forward; from not taking those steps to move our life in the direction we want.

Failing is about trying. It is about having the faith and trust that even if we fail we have done our best. We have set our intention, we have acted upon our decision, and we are open to receiving feedback. Positive feedback is getting the exact reflection of what we expected; negative feedback is recognizing we made a mistake.

However, failure can be viewed as getting constructive feedback that what we’re doing isn’t working and we need to make corrections. It is how we receive that feedback that determines whether we look at failure as personal or impersonal. Failure is about ‘what we do’, not ‘who we are’!.

So, take that step and don’t be afraid to ‘Fail Foward’!

Spring Forward

Two steps forward, one step back! I gain an hour of sunlight at the end of the day only to lose my morning ‘alarm clock’ in the beginning of the day. I feel like I was cast back into the ‘darkness‘.

How often do we take a step forward in our lives only to find ourselves two steps behind? Are we really behind or are we really just in a different place? And what is really being ‘behind‘ mean? It’s just a relative term based on some perceived reality of where we think we’re supposed to be.

Sometimes taking a step forward in our lives is really another way of taking a step behind … a step behind to see the big picture. To step forward out of the ‘trees’ so that we can see the ‘forest’ behind us. We’re no longer ‘behind‘ where we should be, but we’re exactly where we’re supposed be, because we are always in the right place, at the right time. Whenever we feel ‘behind‘ it is just Spirit’s way of telling us to go back to center.

So, go ahead, ‘Step Back’ into the Truth and ‘Spring Forward’ into the Sunlight!

Get the FUNK Out

I woke up this morning in a big ‘funk‘! What is that all about? Nothing was any different from the day before, the night before … just a brand new day to begin anew. So, why was I feeling so drained? What was underneath that feeling? What was sucking the ‘LifeForce‘ out of my body???

Our feelings are our barometer for what we’re thinking about — whether those are conscious or unconscious thoughts. Could it be that my ‘unconscious‘ tape of negative thoughts had taken over during the night and was now playing? If so … how do I stop the tape? How do I ‘Erase‘ the tape?

Is it possible for us to Rewind and ReDo? If so, How? Well, one of the best ways I know how is to STOP, BREATHE, RELEASE, and REPLACE.

Stop whatever you’re doing in that moment & take a deep breath. Release whatever negative thought, feeling or mood you’re in. Replace it with a ‘Life Affirming’ positive thought. Even if it means you have to ‘Fake It ’til you Make It’ !

The more you do this, the more positive tracks you’ll be laying down on those ‘unconscious‘ tapes. You’ll Erase all that past programming and Replace them with only thoughts that support you and fill you with Energy.

So, the next time you feel drained, Move! Shake your body! Rid yourself of all those non-supporting thoughts and ‘Get the FUNK Out’ !!!

Rainy Days and Mondays

… Always get me down. Remember that song! ( or, am I showing my age)!

Rainy days and Mondays used to get me down all the time. I lived my life based on the weather and the day of the week. Sunny days - great mood. Rainy - not so good. Mondays - terrible; Saturdays - fantastic! I was a victim of my own moods. I was raised in an environment that taught me rain meant ‘dreary‘ and work-week meant ‘drudgery‘!

Thank goodness I re-created my own , more uplifting beliefs!

So, when I woke up this morning to the sound of raindrops I focused on how ’soothing’ and ‘therapuetic’ it was. The sound of nature coming through my window to welcome the day; welcome the week. I get to choose how I start my day; how I start my week. So on this ‘Rainy Day and Monday’ I choose to believe in beauty and love; opportunity and prosperity; peace and harmony.

What’s your ‘Rainy Day Belief’!

Hump Day

Wednesday - better known as ‘Hump Day’.

When I was in school or had a ‘job‘ to go to, it had a lot of significance in my life. Thank God it’s Wednesday - almost the weekend! You’d start the day and feel like you still had the whole week ahead of you and by the end of the day, you felt like you had the whole weekend to look forward to!

In our ‘Prosperity’ class one of our affirmations is ” There are no Alps“. There are no mountains to climb, no hurdles to get over, no ‘humps‘ to get to the other side of. Every day is another opportunity to experience the fullness of living in the moment, in the NOW. Whenever we’re focused on getting over the ‘hump‘, we stop being focused on what’s right in front of us.

And right in front of us is what’s right inside of us; SPIRIT. And Spirit doesn’t know about humps. So live every day as if it were the weekend and leave the ‘humps ‘ for the camels!

Porridge Today

One of my favorite videos is ‘Wallace and Gromit A Close Shave'. In one particular scene in the beginning of the story, Wallace declares when he wakes up that it’s “Tuesday Gromit, Porridge Today“! Then he is slipped into his clothes, down a chute into the kitchen for his breakfast. He’s an ‘Inventor‘ - you know!

Well - it’s Tuesday today & I can’t help but saying ‘It’s Tuesday Gromit - Porridge Today’ and make my OWN declaration by claiming what is mine NOW! (Today it was oatmeal - not porridge ).

What do you really OWN NOW about your life? What declarations do you make every day for yourself?

You’re just like Wallace. We all are - for we’re all Inventors - Inventors of our OWN life! So - go on. Make a declaration and eat your Porridge Today!

The Hat's the Thing

As I was leaving my house this morning, in the pouring rain, I grabbed my Garden Hat in lieu of an umbrella. This big floppy hat was just the ticket to keep me dry & keep my hands free. As I kissed my son goodbye, he looked up at me and said, “Mom - you look terrible. Why are you wearing that hat”?

Hmmm, I thought. Do I really look that bad? Should I care? Should I listen to his ‘point-of-view’? Well, I thought I looked pretty good, and since I wasn’t about to enter any beauty contests, I thanked him for sharing and left for the store.

Now, at the store I had a very different experience with my hat. A man coming down the aisle came right up to me and said, “You really make that hat look good!” Wow! Was he talking to me? Was he seeing the same hat? Do I really look good? Should I care? Should I listen to his ‘point-of-view’? I thanked him for his compliment and with a big smile on my face I continued on my way.

Who’s right? My son, a stranger, or ….. myself??? How often to we let the ‘outside’ world tell us what to think about ourselves on the ‘inside’ ! Let your own light shine - no matter what the world says - whether it’s raining outside - it’s always bright and sunny in Spirit!

The ‘Hats‘ the thing! Wear yours proudly!

Wrap Yourself in Loving Warmth

Self-love is not Selfishness; it is Selflessness. To be Selfless is to be centered in Oneness. To be centered in Oneness is to be centered in Spirit. To be centered in Spirit is to be centered in Love.
We are always wrapped in ‘Loving Warmth’ when we are wrapped in Spirit.
